The Shift, which has been organizing the National Working Group on Homeless Encampments (NWG-HE) since January 2023, has released Municipal Engagement Guidelines. The goal of this guidance is to assist local governments in addressing homeless encampments in a positive and amicable way. The Guidelines do not provide a path to end homelessness. The objective is to create human rights-based national guidelines for local governments' interactions with encampments around the nation. It is meant to lay the groundwork for long-term solutions while also assisting in securing the greatest results for encampment residents and their communities in the near future.
