JOIN US for the Third Annual Walk to End Intimate Partner Violence in Durham Region.

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:00
a.m., nine organizations serving women and survivors across Durham Region will come
together to host the Third Annual Community Walk to End Intimate Partner
Violence at Durham Region Headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby.

Intimate partner violence (IPV) continues to affect thousands of individuals and families
each year, with far-reaching impacts on survivors, children, and communities. Across
Durham Region, local organizations work every day to provide emergency shelter,
counselling, advocacy, legal support, crisis intervention, and prevention programs for
those experiencing violence.

The Community Walk to End Intimate Partner Violence is an opportunity to:

● Honour survivors and their strength.
● Remember those whose lives have been lost to intimate partner violence.
● Stand together in support of safer, healthier communities free from violence.

This walk is more than a community event—it is a public commitment to stand with survivors, challenge the attitudes and behaviours that allow violence to continue,
and work together to build a future where everyone can live safely and with dignity.

The event is free and open to everyone. Donations are welcome in support of the
participating organizations, with every contribution helping to provide life-changing and life-saving services for individuals and families affected by intimate partner violence.
Following the walk, participants are invited to stay and enjoy family-friendly activities,
community displays, games, and prize draws while connecting with local organizations
dedicated to supporting survivors and preventing violence.

The event is presented by Bethesda House, Herizon House, Luke’s Place, Safety
Network Durham (a division of CFSD), The Denise House, Victim Services
Durham Region, Women’s Multicultural Resource & Counselling Centre of
Durham (WMRCC), Durham Rape Crisis Centre, and YWCA Durham, in
collaboration with the Region of Durham.
