Position: Community Development Worker (Canada Summer Jobs Student)
Reports To: Community Development Manager
Hours of Work: Full time - 37.5 hours per week
Location: Armagh Mississauga; Hybrid (2 days remote)
Length of Contract: 10 weeks
Salary: $17.60/hour
Potential Start Date: May 19th, 2026

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Community Development Worker will support the organization’s outreach and education efforts in the community. Under the supervision of the Community Development Manager, this role will support strategic marketing and outreach efforts aimed at raising awareness, fostering engagement, and building meaningful relationships with community members, donors, and partners in support of gender-based violence prevention and education.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Marketing & Community Engagement support focused on Gender-Based Violence awareness and
advocacy.
• Create and manage a content calendar for the 2026–2027 year, aligning campaigns with key
observances such as International Women’s Day, the 16 Days of Activism, and other relevant dates.
• Utilizing brand guidelines develop, schedule, and share impactful marketing content across all social
media and digital platforms that speaks to gender-based violence awareness, community
empowerment, and support services.
• Raise awareness through clear, consistent messaging and campaigns that highlight support services,
survivor stories, prevention education, and community initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Community Development Manager to implement marketing strategies that
enhance the visibility and reach of advocacy efforts and community-based services.
• Represent the organization at events, forums, and outreach initiatives, acting as a key communicator
of values, resources, and opportunities for involvement.
• Leverage digital tools to track marketing performance, outreach activities, community feedback, and stakeholder engagement.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure marketing and outreach efforts align with broader
organizational goals, campaign themes, and service offerings.
• Build partnerships with local media, influencers, organizations, and community leaders to amplify
advocacy messages and campaign reach.
• Collect feedback and data from community members to evaluate effectiveness and improvement
suggestions.
• Contribute to other tasks or projects as required by the Community Development Manager.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Adhere to and abide by the agency’s Health and Safety Regulations
• Agree to sign Client Confidentiality and Agency Confidentiality Statements
• Assist in the maintenance of an anti-oppressive anti-racist work environment for staff, residents and volunteers
• Read, understand and adhere to policies and procedures of Armagh
• Work within a team environment; provide support and information to team members and assist other staff when required
• Other duties or responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A University degree or college Diploma (in progress or completed), preferably in marketing,
community engagement, business development, fundraising, social work or women’s studies.
• Experience in community outreach, marketing, event planning, fundraising, donor relations, social
services, or non-profit sectors is an asset.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse community groups.
• Passion for community work and social impact, especially an awareness of the Violence Against Women
Sector.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
• Comfortable with using online platforms for communication, event promotion, and fundraising.
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Familiarity with using Canva and social media platforms for outreach purposes is an asset.
• Knowledge or experience with marginalized communities, and an understanding of the importance
• of inclusivity and diversity.
• Alignment with Armagh’s mission, values and commitment to community empowerment.
• Valid Driver's License and use of a reliable vehicle is an asset
• Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
• Vulnerable Sector Certificate and maintaining of clearance requirements during employment

PHYSICAL / MENTAL EFFORT:
Based on the work schedule, the frequency of the following tasks will vary according to need:
• Ability to lift unsupported up to 25 lbs.
• Carrying / lifting materials, donations etc. using stairs or elevator
• Using a computer, monitor and other office equipment
• Changing priorities and workflow to accommodate needs of team and client delivery timelines
• Work independently and with frequent interruptions.
