Many people actively participate in sport starting at a young age. Participating in sports can promote relationships, enhance physical health, develop leadership, boost confidence, and improve wellbeing, among other advantages. As a result, sport has the potential to be a strong and successful tool for spreading principles of safety and wellbeing throughout society.

CCMW published a Policy, Program and Practices Review Guide in 2022 to assist organizations in improving their services and supports for Muslim victims and survivors of gender-based violence.
The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) initiative at CCMW, which aims to identify and remove the obstacles preventing Muslim women and girls from receiving the support and services they need, led to the creation of the guide. The project's objective is to create a transformation strategy and some tools to deal with these obstacles.
The following report builds on OAITH’s previous work on risk assessment within Violence Against Women (VAW) shelters: Breaking Through: Rethinking Assessment Practices In Ontario Shelters. This report has been informed by the current work of service providers working in VAW shelters in Ontario through a sector-wide survey on current risk assessment and safety planning tools and practices. OAITH thanks the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services as well as all survey participants for their contributions to this report.
