Job type
o Part-time – permanent (16 hours bi-weekly minimum)
o Shift work – Days/Evenings/Nights/Weekends –
o Must be available to accept shifts on short notice
Qualification/Education requirements:
o Social Service Worker diploma, or other related certificates from a college or university,
o Must possess current First Aid / CPR certification
o Bilingualism an asset
Job Description:
o Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced crisis environment of a women's shelter
o Physically demanding
o Supervise activities of clients living in a communal setting
o Assess and advocate for clients needs
o Coordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community
o Documentation skills required to record client data in agency database
o Provide suicide and crisis intervention, resolve conflict situations,
o Liaise with other social service, community agencies and health care providers involved with clients
o Answer crisis phone line and assist callers
o Develop service plans/safety plans
o Housekeeping duties, other duties as required.
Job Requirements:
o Ability to work independently and within a team approach.
o Ability to acknowledge and respect diversity in all persons.
o Ability to maintain a safe, well-being environment for all clients.
o Awareness of Violence Against Women issues, prevention and services an asset.
o Ability to read, write and converse in both English and French is an asset.
o Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, internet search)
o Organizational and time management skills.
o Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Organization.
o Must have a current Criminal reference check.
o Have a valid SIN.
