Community Engagement Coordinator
16 hours weekly
27.39/hourly -2-year contract (with potential for renewal and/or transition to permanent)

Reports to: Executive Director
Position Summary:
The Community Engagement Coordinator supports the organization’s mission by
strengthening community connections, coordinating volunteer engagement, planning and
executing events, and managing social media communications. This role plays a key part in
promoting our work, building meaningful relationships with volunteers and community
partners, and enhancing public awareness of our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Coordination
Lead the full volunteer lifecycle including recruitment, screening, orientation,
training, and ongoing support.
Match volunteers with opportunities that align with their skills and interests
Maintain accurate volunteer records, schedules, and communication.
Organize volunteer appreciation efforts and recognition activities to support
retention and engagement.
Event Support
Plan, organize, and deliver community events, workshops, and public activities that
advance awareness and engagement.
Manage logistics including venue coordination, volunteer assignments, promotional
materials, and onsite support.
Collaborate with staff and partners to ensure events reflect organizational values
and goals.
Track event outcomes and support continuous improvement for future events
Social Media & Communications
Manage and grow the organization’s social media presence across platforms.
Develop and schedule content that aligns with organizational priorities and
campaigns.
Engage community audiences online, respond to inquiries appropriately, and
monitor channel analytics to inform content decisions.
Work with internal teams to ensure messaging is consistent and supports broader
communications efforts.
Community Outreach & Partnerships
Build and sustain positive relationships with community organizations,
stakeholders, and supporters.
Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and outreach activities.
Identify opportunities to expand volunteer involvement and community
participation.
Administrative & Reporting
Maintain accurate records related to volunteers, outreach activities, social media
engagement, and events.
Prepare summaries and reports as needed to support planning and evaluation.
Support other team projects as required
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in communications, community development, event
planning, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience supporting volunteer programs, community outreach, or social media
management.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail and ability to
manage competing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Comfort working with diverse groups and building respectful, inclusive
environments.
Proficiency with social media platforms and basic analytics.
Assets
Experience in a nonprofit, social service, or GBV-related environment.
Familiarity with anti-oppressive and trauma-informed approaches.
