POSITION SUMMARY:
Working from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, trauma informed, and intersectional feminist framework, the Manager, Outreach and Shelter Facilities will work closely with the Director, Violence Against Women’s (VAW) Services, the Manager, Shelter Logistics, and the Manager, Safe at Home Program, to provide oversight, direction and management to ensure the safe and effective daily operation of the shelter. The Manager, Outreach and Shelter Facilities will also supervise and manage the Outreach Programs, Food Services, Housekeeping, and resources as it pertains to the delivery of services to service users, in keeping with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide management and oversight of all Outreach Programming
• In consultation with the Director, VAW Services and Facility Services Operator, manage the day-to-day facility related operations including the coordination of repairs/renovations, follow up, and special projects in a proactive and timely manner
• Provide management and oversight of all Food Service programming at Inasmuch House
• Provide management and oversight of Housekeeping staff
• Work in collaboration with other Women’s Services’ Management and People, Culture and Communication Department, regarding job postings and interviewing of unionized staff members
• In collaboration with the Manager, Shelter Logistics, provide orientation, training and supervision to staff, students and volunteers in the Outreach Programs and Food Service program at Inasmuch House in accordance with internal policies and procedures, the collective agreement, relevant legislation, and existing cross sector protocols
• Manage unionized Outreach Program, Food Service, and Housekeeping staff within the terms of the Collective Agreement
• Report to the Director, VAW Services on the progress of Outreach Programming, Food Service Programming, and Housekeeping by providing weekly detailed updates at check ins, management meetings, monthly reports and quarterly written reports
• Participate in on-call rotation providing consultation and support to staff on shift in a 24/7 setting; this can include submitting MCCSS Serious Occurrence reports, employee incident reports, and Mission Services’ Serious Occurrence Reports as needed, in a timely manner
• Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Outreach Programs in collaboration with all Outreach staff, and reporting on programming to the Director, VAW Services.
• Ensure the provision of quality supports and services including Women’s Services’ policy and procedure development in accordance with organizational policies and procedures, MCCSS Shelter Standards, all relevant legislation and cross-sector protocols
• Work in collaboration with the Director, VAW Services and the Management Team to implement integrated anti-oppressive anti-racist advocacy-oriented, person-centred and trauma-informed services including individual and group supports
• In collaboration with Women’s Services’ management, participate in staff development, including capacity building and performance management
• Ensure keeping of systematic records, including accurate service user files and relevant statistics, for all Outreach programs and provide reports in consultation with Women’s Services’ Administrative Assistant, as required
• Conduct Quarterly File Audits of Outreach and Food Service’s Clients and submit for review to Director, VAW Services
• Act as a liaison, with the Union and attend Union meetings as requested by the Director, VAW Services
• Attend sector committee meetings within the Violence Against Women and women’s homelessness sectors in Hamilton, as approved by the Director, VAW Services, and report-back at management meetings
• In consultation with the Director, VAW Services, develop, identify, and communicate trainings, public speaking engagements, or any other events requiring Women’s Services’ staff attendance, including tracking, confirmation, People, Culture and Communication reporting and follow up
• Manage all Inasmuch House Serious Occurrence Reports and Incident Reports, ensuring completion of Investigation, and review sections prior to submitting to Director, VAW Services
• Act as a certified member of the Women’s Services Joint Health and Safety Committee and participate in required meetings, trainings and workplace inspections
• Work safely, identify and report any health and safety concerns, and always follow Mission Services workplace health and safety policies and procedures
• Additional duties as required to ensure the continuation of service delivery
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum diploma in Social Service Work, or related field
• Preference for degree in Social Work, Women’s Studies, or Assaulted Women and Children Counsellor and Advocate Studies, or related field
• Minimum two (2) years of supervisory, management and/or leadership experience, with a preference for three to four (3-4) years of experience
• Experience managing within a unionized environment is an asset
• Experience working in a shelter environment or outreach setting is an asset
• Excellent crisis intervention skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Committed to upholding the organization’s mission, values and standards
• Fluency in French is an asset
HOURS OF WORK:
• 37.5 hours per week
• Days, evenings, nights, weekday and weekend shifts depending on program needs
• The Manager, Outreach and Shelter Facilities will also be required to participate in a 24 hour on-call rotation

COMPENSATION:
Wage: $75,138.37 annually
