Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre - Receptionist


Full Time Contract until July 28, 2023

Monday to Friday, 10am – 4pm

Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre (Cornerstone) has an exciting opportunity in which you get to work within the Cornerstone team to ensure a strong, innovative support system is in place for women and children impacted by gender-based violence in Northumberland County.

What can I expect to do in this role?

  • Provide reception, booking appointments and basic screening regarding immediate crisis needs
  • Answer and re-direct incoming calls as required
  • Relay messages as required
  • Respond to basic telephone requests such as general information inquiries
  • Provide clerical and basic administrative support to various programs
  • Work collaboratively with the relevant team to provide service to clients
  • Meeting preparation as assigned
  • Liaise and coordinate with community as required
  • Maintain Community Counselling Shared Documents (new calendars, schedules etc.)
  • Assist with Residential staff scheduling
  • Book offices/other rooms (internal & external)
  • Maintain bulletin boards & pamphlets
  • Assist clients with access to Client Satisfaction Survey
  • Respect the confidentiality of client files, subject to legal and policy parameters
  • Inventory and ordering of office and maintenance/other supplies
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the building
  • Maintain kitchenettes – supplies and cleanliness

What do I need for this role?

  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Good computer skills – Microsoft Office programs, database
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with visitors and clients
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with co-workers, volunteers and students in a team model
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Solid understanding of issues related to family violence
  • Superior organizational skills and self-motivated
  • Proven ability to work co-operatively as part of a team
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification
