Program Support Worker

Full Time Contract (December 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023)

Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre (Cornerstone) has an exciting opportunity in which you get to work within the Residential Services team to ensure a strong, innovative support system is in place for women and children impacted by gender-based violence in Northumberland County.

 What can I expect to do in this role?

  • Provide professional casework, individual counselling, advocacy and referrals to clients in a confidential manner
  • Work collaboratively with the direct service team to assess, prioritize and respond to the needs of individual women and children
  • Complete safety assessment and explore risk management strategies with clients and coordinate service with the direct service team
  • Case management
  • Provide a comprehensive range of services according to case planning and individual client’s needs
  • Facilitate groups/workshops
  • Provide Residential Office support

What do I need for this role?

  • Relevant degree or diploma
  • Comprehensive understanding of issues related to family violence, including a strong understanding of the links between violence, trauma, addictions and mental health, and homelessness
  • Proven ability to respond to complex needs of clients and comprehensive intervention strategies
  • Proven ability to facilitate workshops
  • Knowledge of the following frameworks:

o   The Comprehensive Continuous Integrated Systems of Care model of service provision

o   Motivational Interviewing

o   Family and Intimate Partner Violence within a gendered lens

o   Trauma informed

o   Harm Reduction

  • Strong crisis intervention skills
  • Relevant knowledge of local community and social services
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking skills and sound judgment
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification
