Under the supervision of the Director of Programs and Services, the Manager of Community Programs provides coordination and supervision to the casework team, admin support and contract staff at Interval House of Hamilton’s outreach offices: Women’s Centre Hamilton / Jared’s Place / Flamborough Women’s Resource Services. They ensure the smooth running of community programs on a day to day basis and ensure professional standards of casework in accordance with the stated philosophy, policies and procedures. The Manager is expected to perform these responsibilities in a professional manner and to perform administrative functions in support of the Agency’s mission, vision, values and strat plan. They will work independently as well as work as a team member, co-ordinate and liaise with the community and its services, project management, participate in both fundraising and non-fundraising events that support the goals of the programs and agency, perform administrative responsibilities, maintain and write accurate and concise statistical reports, grants, etc. This positions duties includes, but is not limited to, ensuring proper case management, record keeping, collection and reporting of statistical data for funders and the organization, engaging community stakeholders in advancing the vision and mission of the organization; grant writing and organizing/participating in community presentation and fundraising events. The Manager is expected to share on-call duties for the agency. The Manager must be an ambassador of Interval House of Hamilton in all capacities.
Education: Minimum undergraduate degree in Social Work (from recognized University/College) or related disciplines. Master of Social Work preferred.
Experience: Minimum three (3) years sound experience in a management position within woman’s services preferred. Working a unionized environment preferred including staff supervision and performance management. Experience working in women’s counselling and /or residential services. Proven skills in crisis intervention, case management, project management, program evaluation and community development including event planning and fundraising. Able to prioritize in a fast-paced crisis environment and an ability to meet time lines and produce accurate reports. Proven strategic agility and leadership in developing strong stakeholder and community engagement/partnerships. Ability to implement budget controls. Experience with group facilitation and program planning. Experience working with high risk women, safety planning, and working with Stages of Change, motivational interviewing, trauma informed modalities. Sound working knowledge of intersectionality and gender-based violence required. Excellent team player with ability to build teams, good communication skills essential (written and oral) and ability to be an ambassador. Working knowledge of IT and trouble shooting.
Other: Valid certifications in: First Aid/CPR, ASSIST, PMAB/CPE/UMAB, Ontario driver’s license and own road worthy vehicle with 2 million liability insurance, Safe Food Handling, WHMIS. Vulnerable Sector police clearance. Be educated in harm reduction strategies and practices. Member of College of Social Work. Bilingual or second language an asset.
