Women's Services Program Director (Full-time)

Wage Range: $60,000-$70,000

Mission Services of Hamilton, Inc. is a multi-service, non-profit, charitable organization whose purpose is to serve men, women and children in the greater Hamilton area. For over 50 years, Inasmuch House, a 37-bed emergency shelter for women has been providing safety and empowerment to hundreds of women and their children. We are seeking a Director who is passionately committed to the work of supporting women and children to find safety from violence and to heal from the trauma of abuse. The individual we seek will be committed to the vision of the organization and will be a tireless advocate for the issues of violence against women. This individual will empower staff in an ARAO workplace to innovate new programs to meet the changing needs of the women we serve. They will work collaboratively with the community to address the associated issues of violence against women, intimate partner violence, homelessness, oppression and abuse.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership and direction through an ARAO lens to develop, manage, implement and evaluate all aspects of the operations of the shelter.
  2. Maintain a positive, inclusive, supportive and safe work climate that attracts, keeps and motivates a diverse staff of highly skilled individuals.
  3. Foster teamwork and establish healthy working relations
  4. Develop purposeful and effective programming and ensure compliance with all MCSS Standards.
  5. Be a creative, collaborative and visionary member of the Mission Services Senior Leadership Team
  6. Administer and monitor the funds of the program according to the approved budget
  7. Ensure the keeping of systematic records and provide reports as required by MCSS and Mission Services of Hamilton.
  8. Work passionately and collaboratively with community partners to address the issues of VAW and Women's Homelessness. Represent Inasmuch House at WHPC and WAWG as well as other committees as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Post-secondary degree in related field or equivalent.
  2. Extensive knowledge and experience with the issues of Domestic Violence and Women's homelessness. 
  3. Knowledge, understanding and commitment to ARAO framework.
  4. At least 5 years experience in a leadership role in a woman's shelter or related field.
  5. Experience with Collective Agreements and working in a unionized environment an asset.
  6. Excellent organizational, supervisory and interpersonal skills
  7. Experience working collaboratively in a unionized environment would be an asset
