Job Posting: Executive Director

Reports to: Board of Directors

Summary: Under the general direction of the Board of Directors, assesses and coordinates all functions concerning the operations of the Women's Interval Home of Sarnia-Lambton Inc. and the Sexual Assault Survivors' Centre Sarnia-Lambton. Oversees daily financial transactions within the agencies through budget preparation, monitoring and presentation to funders. Supervises Management teams. Promotes the agencies' services, awareness of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking, and represents the agencies' on various community committees. The Executive Director implements and executes the goals and objectives of the organizations' Strategic Plans and Operational Plans, as well as other project-based and community activities that ensure we are being accountable to our funding bodies; enhances the quality of services we deliver and furthers the interests of the agencies in a manner which is consistent with the agencies' Mission, Vision, and Value Statements, including the development of practices which promote the quality of work life and empowerment of staff, and the quality of service delivery for the women and children we support.

Requirements:

  • Minimum post secondary education – BSW, MSW, or related business management degree.
  • Clinical expertise in the field of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
  • Five years minimum management experience.
  • Commitment to continued professional development.
  • Knowledge of community resources and established networks with social service and government agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated problem solving, planning, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of the legal system and issues related to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated management skills and abilities.
  • Understanding and experience in grant writing.
  • Knowledge of both union and non-union labour requirements.
  • Must maintain active membership in both O.C.R.C.C. and O.A.I.T.H.
  • Extensive knowledge of counselling techniques and the social service network in Sarnia-Lambton is required.
  • Respects the confidentiality of all agency information.

Certification and/or Training & Development Requirements:

  • First Aid / CPR certification and renewals.
