OAITH Lays out Key Priorities Needed for the 2023 Provincial Budget

OAITH has made a submission to the Ministry of Finance and the Standing Committee on Finance & Economic Affairs focusing on 10 key priorities to improve survivor safety and the quality support they deserve through a 60 Million Dollar investment. OAITH will be sure to measure how Budget 2023 is responsive to our recommendations and the value placed on creating safety and justice for survivors of gender-based violence and those working to end gender-based violence in Ontario.

New AR/AO Framework and Curriculum Now Available!

New Report Available- Provincial Budget 2021 2022

In the past year, OAITH has provided three pre-budget submissions that have contained a number of recommendations created in consultation with OAITH’s member organizations. These recommendations highlight a number of long-standing gaps and limitations in funding and systemic barriers that need to be addressed to support VAW shelters and ensure shelters can remain open and accessible to women who are escaping violence and require support and services. Our recommendations highlight a number of issues and challenges that were either created or exacerbated as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now Available- 2019-2020 Femicide Report

Femicide Report 2019-2020

In addition to the 2019-2020 Annual Femicide List and Media Analysis, OAITH has also recently released the 2019-2020 Femicide Report. This report provides a more detailed and in-depth examination of femicide in Ontario, highlighting a number of factors, trends and areas requiring further research and study. OAITH’s femicide work is done in hopes of broadening public awareness and understanding of gender-based violence and ultimately bringing an end to femicide.
