Interim Place-Program Supervisor-1 Year Contract-Full Time

We seek a full-time Program Supervisor for our Shelter Program to be part of a passionate and committed Leadership Team. We are looking for a creative leader with a strong background in violence against women work and with an interest in developing staff teams using innovate strategies and engaging staff to ensure service excellence. The Program Supervisor is responsible for day to day supervision and support for staff working in the shelter. The Program Supervisor works in collaboration with other Program Supervisors and with direction from the Manager of Programs and Services to ensure effective client service delivery, documentation, staff scheduling, labour relations and health and safety for the shelter.

 

Qualifications

 

  • University or college education in a related field, such as Gender and Women’s Studies, Sociology, Social Justice or the equivalent in education and extensive experience.
  • Commitment to and in-depth knowledge of Social Justice, Anti-Oppression, Anti-Racism Framework.
  • In depth understanding of gender based violence against women, oppression and homelessness -Shelter specific experience is a definite asset.
  • An understanding of the systemic barriers that women are forced to navigate due to their experiences of violence, classism, racism, homophobia, transphobia etc.
  • Experience supervising staff teams – Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Ability to mobilize and sustain a positive team environment.
  • Ability to train, motivate and recognize team members’ professional needs.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
