Raise the Rates Rally People from across Ontario rallied to demand a raise to social assistance and disability support rates. Rates would need to rise 55% to meet the level provided before the Harris 1995 cuts, which even then did not meet poverty levels in Canada. |

IWD Shelter, Sanctuary, Status Rally On International Women's Day, OAITH supported a rally at the offices of the Canadian Border Services Agency to protest the new national policy from CBSA to enter women's shelters to arrest undocumented women hiding there with their children to escape abusive men. |

Sisters in Spirit March and Vigil (Toronto) October 4, 2010 Over 580 Aboriginal women and girls are murdered or missing across Canada. Sisters in Spirit vigils took place across the country to honour their lives and to call for more action and accountability from government to address violence against Aboriginal women and girls. Our 'Election Campaign' Launch December 8/2010 On December 8th, OAITH invited Ontario political parties to meet with us and promise to hear our ideas for their party platforms in the upcoming October 6, 2011 provincial election. The event was held in the Main Legislature Building at Queen's Park. We marked December 6 and the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, which ends on December 10th, Human Rights Day. Women and children murdered in Ontario in 2010 and over the past 20 years were honoured in this annual event. |

Take Back the Dyke March Toronto 2010 The Toronto Take Back the Dyke March was organized to take place at the same time as the traditional Dyke March on July 3, 2010 to protest the decision by the Toronto Pride Committee to ban the use of the term "Israeli Apartheid" at Pride events. Pride rescinded the ban in the face of massive opposition from the community, but Take Back the Dyke went ahead as planned. |

For the 500 To remember women and children murdered in Ontario, OAITH sponsored an event at Queen's Park on November 26, 2009. We honoured 500 women and children murdered since 1990, including the 14 women murdered at l'Ecole Polytechnique on December 6, 1989. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the 'Montreal Massacre', now named the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada. |
