OAITH's Committees |
| OAITH has three permanent Board committees: |
| Personnel Committee |
| The Personnel Committee is the Board committee charged with the responsibility of supervising the staff of OAITH. The Personnel Committee is composed of the Chair, the Chair of the SJA/ARAO Committee and one other member of the Board of Directors. |
| Member Education and Training Committee |
| The Member Education and Training Committee (MET Committee) is comprised of women within the OAITH membership who support anti-racism/anti-oppression work. It is chaired by the Co-Chairs of Member Education and Training. This committee provides information and training to member organizations designed to increase their understanding of issues of racism and oppression in order to support inclusive services for women and children. |
| Social Justice and Action/Anti-Racism Anti-Oppression Committee |
The Social Justice and Action/ Anti-Racism Anti-Oppression Committee (SJAC/ARAO) is responsible for action on public policy issues affecting women and children who experience violence. The Committee is also responsible for completing funded projects undertaken by OAITH in its public advocacy role, such as the 2008 project, Survivor Voices. Members of the SJAC/ARAO participate, along with Board or MET Committee members, in government consultations, meetings with government or political staff and other processes where OAITH is represented. The Committee is also responsible, along with the OAITH staff, for developing reports, briefs and other documents that speak to public policy issues for women and children, and for coalition building and joint action with equality-seeking allies. The Social Justice and Action/Anti-Racism Anti-Oppression Committee regularly consults with members on current political and social issues of concern to women and children, and women's services. The Committee has also provided training to member shelters on public advocacy skills. Please see information on this site about how to order our CD for women's advocates: Training for Change. Membership on the SJA/ARAO Committee is open to all women within the Association who want to take action for justice and social change within an integrated, feminist, anti-racist/anti-oppressive perspective. |
