Government Submissions

OAITH responds to numerous social policy issues that affect the lives of women and their children.  With community action, consultation and written responses, we have told policy makers what we think they need to do to address violence against women.
 
Below are some of the written responses we have made to social policy and legislative issues.

April 2, 2012--To Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario re: response to the Ontario Budget tabled March 27, 2012.

November 1, 2011--Letter to Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario requesting support for opposition to Bill C-19, Ending the Long Gun Registry Act.

October 31, 2011--Letter to Federal Government MPs re: Bill C-19, Ending the Long Gun Registry Act. As a parnter in the Canadian Network of Women's Shelters and Transition Houses.

May 6, 2011--Letter to the Commission for the Review of Social Assistance in Ontario: Regarding the need for gender and equity based framework for the review. Signator in collaboration with community adocates and academics.

April 25, 2011--Letter to Justine Akman, Director, Social Policy and Programs, Citizenship and Immigration Canada re: Proposed amendment to regulations of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act: Notice requesting comments on a proposal to introduce a conditional permanent residence period of two years or more for sponsored spouses and partners in a relationship of two years or less with their sponsors.
